Meider Jonno Asha – “Hope for Girls” in Dhaka, Bangladesh (15 Girls)
Since 2015, PAWA has supported over 200 annual scholarships for girls from Meider Jonno Asha to attend secondary school and college. This year, PAWA is funding the educational support of 15 girls to attend College in Bangladesh. The two year College course follows on from Secondary School with PAWA paying for admission charges and books. Girls then finish their College education at 17 or 18 when they are much less vulnerable to early marriage. The first university student from Hope for Girls achieved an MA in business studies and Asha has seen the girls become educators and change makers in their own families, at the Literacy Centre and in the wider community. Many of them teach the younger girls at the Literacy Centre, and have since started to think about teaching as a vocation for themselves.
