Meider Jono Asha – Hope for Girls – Dhaka, BANGLADESH (10 girls) College
This second scheme has allowed the PAWA cohort graduating from the school sponsorship scheme to aspire to and access further and higher education. The two year College course follows on from Secondary School with PAWA paying for admission charges and books. Girls then finish their College education at 17 or 18 when they are much less vulnerable to early marriage. Their first university student achieved an MA in business studies and Asha has seen the girls become educators and change makers in their own families, at the Literacy Centre and in the wider community. Many of them teach the younger girls at the Literacy Centre, and have since started to think about teaching as a vocation for themselves.
