FPPA – Belu, INDONESIA (40 Girls)
Established 20 years ago, the FPPA charity aims to educate and support vulnerable street teenagers and help them avoid and recover from violence and human trafficking. Many are ex East Timorese refugee girls and the project works to increase economic independence alongside developing emotional resilience and other life skills. In the first year of support teenage girls benefitted from cooking, tailoring and weaving courses as well as health and reproduction education to cover teenage pregnancy, sexual abuse, illegal drugs and social issues supported by PAWA. We are now working with the project to establish a school sponsorship programme to support girls and families who find it difficult to prioritise secondary education.
