PAWA is delighted that Papergang Theatre is partnering with us to put on a fun cabaret-style night at the PAWA Arts Jam on 22 November – details of the action packed night are at the end of this article. Clarissa Widya, producer and co-founder of Papergang Theatre, shares with us why Papergang have joined forces with PAWA for this one fun night.
The PAWA Arts Jam is our first ever cabaret style evening. As the winter nights close in, we bring you exhilarating entertainment and lovely canapes – all in aid of girls’ education across Asia. You can see the PAWA Arts Jam programme here. In short, you can expect musical numbers, comedy, short film screenings, live theatrical performances and much more!
Papergang is a theatre company devoted to British East Asian writing. Their mission is to create theatre work that reflects the multi-cultural society we live in, bringing contemporary voices from our community into the mainstream. As a theatre company, they connected to a diverse range of people who all have experience in the different aspects of theatre making. In particular, they have a network of writers, producers and directors, all of whom share our vision of putting the best writing onto the stage.
A beautiful line up and a great cause
Artistic Director of Papergang Theatre, Clarissa Widya, says:
“The evening is a wonderful initiative that shows how art can bring people together for a great cause. It is a fun event and we all need a little more of that in our lives at the moment, don’t we?
“I was honoured to have been asked to be involved. I am really glad a beautiful line up has been created that will ensure an entertaining night. Most of the credit goes to the PAWA team but Papergang Theatre is proud to be supporting the event through the Papergang Theatre network
“As for me personally, I am a big fan of PAWA. The goal of PAWA to support girls in Asia in their education is one that really speaks to me. Education is the quickest way to gain power in the world and everyone should have access to it. Knowledge is the best skill you can have in life.”
